Construction Update

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5)

Due to the concerns regarding travel in and out of Mexico because of the H1N1 virus, for the first time, CPC canceled the first part of the building season for summer 2009. This was a disappointment for some and a relief of others, but we felt it was necessary to call off the first four weeks of construction.  It was a strange start to the summer but with God’s guidance we knew we would fulfill our promise of housing to deserving families.

Our full-time mission partners, college volunteer staff, local CPC families, and some CPC veterans started building the six hundredth house on May 18th.  For the next four weeks the staff found themselves working double time, building two houses a week until mid-June when Lake Forest Church from Huntersville, NC became the first church group to build a house in 2009.  The second half of the summer went very smoothly.  Sixteen other groups built houses in June and July.

Fortunately, a couple of the canceled groups were able to reschedule for the fall.  CPC staff also built in the fall.  In total, we built 9 more houses in September and October.  The three weeks that we hosted teams in September and October made for the biggest fall building session that we have had and hope to continue hosting groups during that time of year.

There are still some dates available for 2010.  If you are interested in bringing a group or being a part of CPC next summer or fall please contact John Martin jmartin@cpcmexico.org.
